Up to Maddie... and back.

Since my boys were little, I would randomly ask them "Do you know how much Mommy loves you?" and somewhere along the way I taught them the cute little saying...  Up to the moon and back.

I'm sure many of your children say this very same phrase and it's so very sweet.

To hear my sweet babies say these words in their little soft voices is just something so precious. I love it.

Since Maddie Grace went to Heaven 18 months ago (on the 8th) my boys have changed the way they respond to this very same question.

I'll never forget the first time Noah said it to me.

I cried.

We were laying on the couch snuggling and watching movies when I said "Boys, do you know how much I love you?" and without hesitation he said... "Up to Maddie and back"... "because Maddie's in Heaven and Heaven is even farther than the moon... So you love us all the way to her and back, don't you, Mommy?"

He's such a sweet (and smart) little guy. I just love him!

So, since that day, over a year and a half ago... the boys still say when I ask them that question..

"Do you know how much I love you?"

"Up to Maddie and back" =) and that my friends is a lot of love!!

Maddie Grace is still such a part of our lives, even from Heaven... and for that I am thankful.

Just felt like sharing that today... =)

Much love,

  1. Beautiful story :) Made me smile!!

  2. I love this. :)Love that Maddie still continues to be a part of your lives, and indeed your kiddos lives, too.

I sing a silly little song to my daughter to the tune of Frere Jacque

    "Baby Gracie, baby Gracie.
Who loves you? Who loves you?
Your mommy and your daddy, your mommy and your daddy,
and your brother Jack... Your brother Jack".

    Always makes me smile. :)

  3. Aw. Your boy are too sweet and smart for their own good. They surely loves you. Don't worry about Maddie. I'm sure she's with our creator now and contented.

  4. I have sweet! I use that phrase all the time ...I love u to the moon and it! Thanks for sharing...your Maddie is so beautiful!
